The other day I went out to find what fake Nike Lebron James shoes were on the market. While waiting for my shoes to arrive I sat in a seller’s shop, which measured about 1 by 2 meters in area. Just for kicks I got this guy talking on a few basic questions while holding a camera in front on him. The video wraps up with his wife walking in with my shoes. She had biked home to find the largest size they had, a 44. In an earlier conversation he mentioned that he earned ~3000RMB/month, about $430. The shoes I bought marked his only sale of the day, setting me back $14.

Why blame the consumer for buying the same exact thing but made in China?

Everything made in China is cheap. They make so much of the same thing but at a cheaper price. Why do you keep telling me to buy American made stuff? Why do that when you can save money from buying things at Walmart and things made in China? Will American made things ever be cheaper like the stuff made in China so Americans will start buying them?

Will All The Reports Of Items Tainted With Lead Stop You From Buying Goods Made In China?

Very good question. The reports have made me more alert and perhaps, a bit paranoid. I pay attention to what I buy, where it comes from and how or from what it’s made. I have started checking tags, stamps or stickers to see if an item comes from China. It’s amazing just how much crap, ahem, stuff, comes from there. Although, I am still skeptical that the tags and labels are correct or honest.
If I had small children right now I would likely be furious and throwing away anything and everything that came from China. Unfortunately, our Christmas for the kids would be sparse this year, too.
I hope that grandparents and pet owners check the toys they have available in their homes, too. When it comes to the children and the pets it’s best to be safe than sorry.

Does Buying Expensive Things Made In China Make You Feel Bad?

Yes, with reservations. I agree with the other person who wants to be able to buy the best quality products. If there is no comparable product made in the US then there is no question.
If the only difference is in price, since labor is so cheap in China, the decision is harder.
The problem is not only that there is a trade imbalance, which keeps dragging down our economy, but also the loss of jobs.
It is no longer just that China makes inexpensive (compared to US goods) products, but that many US companies as well as companies around the world, including from Japan (SONY), are farming out manufacturing to China.
The question is not when will it end, but what happens when there is no one left in the US who can afford to buy Chinese goods when all our jobs are gone.

Those who point out cheap goods come out of and manufacturing has been farmed out to other nations where the cost of labor is very low are correct.
So, it is not just China that presents this problem, but that is how the question was framed.
This also doesn’t change the basis of my argument, that buying relatively inexpensive goods from an offshore company or a US company that has farmed its manufacturing offshore, is fraught with problems and deserves consideration from every consumer.

Are You Cutting Back Buying Products Made In China Due To All The Recalls?

Not only am I cutting back but I am scared to death to shop at Walmart now, I cant believe how many of the recalls affect them. We took my grandson to the health dept. for a lead test after finding his matchbox cars were on the recall list from Mattel, hes fine by the way, but it is scary to think you really have to watch what you are buying. Maybe we should be looking at labels marked made in America. Wouldn’t it help our own economy to make things here and purchase our own products anyway?

At least avoid buying anything from Mattel, they won’t even inspect their own toys for quality and safety. Any company that has sent manufacturing to other countries should be boycotted this year!!!!
