In an arena setting that usually brings to mind great moments in Wolfpack basketball history, it was the work of 15 NC State textile and students which garnered rounds of enthusiastic cheers, oohs and aahs from a jubilant crowd gathered for the university’s eighth-annual to show, held Thursday, April 23 at Reynolds Coliseum. As always, the event a collaborative show between NC States College of Textiles and College of students emphasized a fusion of art and fashion. The materials used by the students ran the gamut, and included everything from brightly colored fabrics to metal and raw cotton. In fact, a 200-pound hay rake was used in an eye-catching piece from Veronica Tibbetts’ “American Dream” collection a prime example of how NC State students consistently move beyond the ordinary to create the extraordinary. “Its a special thing for NC State students because its entirely student produced,” said Shelley Smith, a senior Anni Albers Scholar pursuing undergraduate degrees in textile technology and art and at NC State. “Its directed by students; its run by students; its designed by students. “Everything that happens at that show the students did, and I think thats really special.” • for a transcript of this video, please visit: www.ncsu.edu _to_wear_2009.pdf • for more information on Art to Wear, visit: ncsuarttowear.com

Should you be a person who is into the field of , you will likely know as to why in the field of tats, the tattoos hold such a high position. It is a fact that most tat seekers in the world today, demand for the versions of the cross tats. Reasons for this may be many, beginning with some thinking that these tats symbolizing brave clans and ethnic groups will add special glamour to their personality while the rest have it on, just to show their respect for that population group. The majority seekers of the tribal cross tat today are just taken aback by its beauty and variety.

A question that haunts most of us when we think of getting a tribal cross tat done is if it symbolizes one’s faith in Christ. One don’t have to be in that dilemma because there is a lot of difference between the conventional Christian cross and skull tattoos.

While the normal cross tattoos are simple, the tribal tats have many other designs of the tribal art included in them. Usually the color used in these tattoos is black and the designs are bold. These tattoos being very artistic have sharp turns and edges which give them the extra beauty and make them the most sought after.

While most of the people consider tribal cross tats to become a typical men’s tat because of using black ink, a new development has led to using other bright colors too, so as to give the tat a more feminine look making it suitable for women.

These elegant designs that have flown in through the centuries and hold an inner meaning in each design are very vivid forms of art. One has to note the fact unlike the normal cross, the tribal cross is not just a religious symbol. They are spiritual symbols that represent a particular clan and their principles, for which they are known.
