The government’s much publicised stimulus package has failed to bring cheer to one industry that contributes four per cent of our GDP – textiles. And if the present trend continues many people could lose their jobs in this industry. This news has taken away smile from the six people employed in a small spinning unit on the outskirts of Coimbatore. There are more than one lakh such units in and around Coimbatore and Tirupur in Tamil Nadu.
