Tama Starclassic B/B Birch/Bubinga
This is why Tama wont have much of a problem with the shift of their mfg operation to China.
These drums were made in china and they sound awesome. The kit is Birch/Bubinga in white silk wrap, 10, 12, 14 toms, 18×22 kick. The kick is kinda low in the mix due to proximity of the mic, but nevertheless it was recorded with a Zoom Q3, no effects or processing…… period. Heads are Evans G2 coated batter and Genera Resonant for the toms, EMAD2 on the kick with the narrow muffle ring using a Remo Black Suede Powerstroke as a reso. I’m in search of a 16″ tom but it’s kinda hard to find being this finish is discontinued. May need to get a painted one and recover it to match.
I love the high tuning on these. Great drums, sounds like they respond really well. I’m also liking how sensitive is that snare.
@ Nowayou15 – It’s an Evans power center.
Can You Please Tell Me What Do You Use snare head (Please, Sorry 4 My Bad English: P)
@ DEAD MANS JOURNAL The zoom h2, it has the same mic as the Q3 Which is considered the best mic available in it’s price range and the h2 is only audio, hope that helps!
Use microphone?
your drums sound beautiful
Thanks! The cymbals in this vid are Sabian’s Vault series. I use all HHX now.
Hey man! Really good sound and precise drumming. What kinda cymbals do u use? Greetz
@ Veigones – Nope. I stay closer to Bob Gatzen method where the bottom heads are tuned about a third higher than the tops. Hope this helps!
tuning is nice, do you use any specifi method of tuning? do you use that tension device from Tama?
@ DEAD MANS JOURNAL – Zoom does just make audio recorders but the Q3 does both, however, does not have any external mic inputs as some of the others Thurs Hope this helps!
@ Durangodude01nj wow, quite nicely q3 records. I need a recorder but I do not need the video. What would you suggest for just audio?
@ DEAD MANS JOURNAL – This was recorded only with a Zoom Q3. No effects or eq used at all
What did you use to record? Any micing?
@ TheQuigonjohn – That’s my goal for the spring. I need to get some updated vids and covers up
@ Durangodude01nj Sweet, you should post another video with it.
@ TheQuigonjohn – Already got it. Bought one in black painted finish and recovered it to match.
@ Durangodude01nj Are you still going to get the 16 “floor tom?
@ TheQuigonjohn – Yep, they did. Reintroduced for 2011.
I think Tama brought back the White Silk finish.
Athansauc @ – Thanks man! These drums are truly a pleasure to play. Good luck with your quest to obtain your own kit!
nice kit dude! im looking forward to buy my own tama these coming months. Regarding its production in china, i believe we can be less concerned with it. china drum companies have factories because of the huge man power that they have to supply the demands all over the world, Which is something they cannot do in their main factories (mostly in Japan). But it doesn’t mean suck china made drums, drum companies I believe are in strict quality control. Cheers to your kit dude!
How much do think this is sounding different to a Starclassic, more lows, but I hear more punch?
@ Carabata64 – Nope, coated G2′s on the toms, Genera Resonant on the bottoms. Hope this helps!
DrumHeads evans g1 in the tons?
