Subversive Seamster: Transform Thrift Store Threads Into Street Couture

Although I have only flicked through this book, I can see myself finding it pretty handy as a reference and for inspiration. Definately for people who do love to re-create op shop or their old clothes.

I just got this book and I have to say that it is one of my favorite crafting books. I love the DIY dress form (I would have never thought of that), and all of the new and different ways to reconstruct clothing that I have not seen anywhere else. They also gave me some very good tips and advice to take with me while I am thrifting (and some advice that I certainly will not take with me).
I did find some styles that I wouldn’t make for myself, but maybe would consider for some friends of mine.

I’ve truly been inspired. After reading Sew Subversive and now Subversive Seamster, I immediately got a sewing machine and started cranking away! This book is witty, clever, practical, and so many other positive words. Great ideas that only 2 Melissas and a Hope could create. I’ve already made 5 shirts and have been saving all of my scrap clothes knowing I can make something fabulous.

Thanks ladies, I have been waiting for book 2, cool stylish and cheap. Now I can read about sewing and not fall asleep. You make a needle and thread more exciting than I ever thought it could be. I have a love hate relationship with sewing, mostly hate but now I feel like I can make stylish clothes. I like the part about shopping first (the really fun part) and then sewing. No more pattern books for me, Goodwill here I come. You have great ideas, that spur my creativity, thanks ladies a book well done.
