Not all clothing lines have their own factories. The ones that do not use contractors who have factories to manufacture their lines to their specification. These factories are all over the world, usually where the labor is cheaper. Because Americans want to buy for as cheap as possible from retailers like Walmart, Target etc. , and because the label owners want maximum profit, these factories are almost never in the USA.
most big brand stores cut costs by manufacturing their clothing in different countries like China because of a number of reasons such as; cheaper labour, cheaper land [for the construction of factories], government incentives to manufacture in that country, lower taxes and for various other reasons to at the end of the day – increase their profit margins. In lamens terms: IT’S CHEAPER
Because we take advantage of the Chinese poverty rate.
Little girls in sweat shops make most of our clothing.
Sad and cruel, but then again if they didn’t have those jobs how would they support their families?
With the prices of popular name brand clothes you think we could slip a few more dollars their way.
Seriously, I bought an Ecko t-shirt for a friend a couple years back and it cost $85. It was a shirt with a friggn rhino on it.
Tell me about it. Buying clothes has now become a major hassle because I will not buy Made In China anything. I have learned by experience the cost of mass production and cheap labor=poor quality and poor safety standards. Just look at the recall list for Made in China products. Everything from kids’ toys to dog food. No one is minding the store over there and although they are supposed to adhere to certain standards, it’s not being enforced.
Why shop at Abercrombie in the first place?
idk, but like everthing is made in china, so ya. i think it depends on what the item is. are the jeans made in a differetn place then ur tops?
mass production
Cheap labor. Lots of US companies get stuff made in China for this reason. In many cases it leads to the quality of the products not being very high.
to make you ask questions
Cheaper manufacturing costs. Chinese can pay their workers ridiculously low amounts and we have a minimum wage barrier.
What not ?
Just about everything is made in china in sweatshops. Show you displeasure and only buy stuff that’s not made in sweatshops by 2 year old children.
