The Bill Clinton White House?
Im not a Clinton basher by any means, nor am I a Bush supporter. But I was thinking about this free trade stuff that Clinton enacted while president that opened up the US to trading with many countries in an unlimited fashion; mainly in my mind I am thinking of China. While I know Bush has been a resource succubus and Clinton left the economy in the black; is it possible at all that the Clinton administration was partly responsible for the deficit as by the time Bush got into the WH trading was really gearing up and this is when we saw *huge* gains to corporations on Wall Street and the middle class started suffering? I know the economy is very dynamic and cant be attributed to just one thing, but isnt it very possible that the free trade encouraged our economy to falter?
Free trade only works when your product is being sold around the world. That’s almost elementary.America has stopped producing and is buying everything. That has to Change. How simple can people be Didn’t Bill Clinton know that.Hillary didn’t tell him!!!Wheres the experience .
Obama 2008!!!
No way, when Bush cut taxes to big bussinees we have to ask more money to China to finance our butget.
It is absolutely possible. The trade agreement needs serious adjustments. It will never be stopped! It’s gone on too long for it to be stopped.
bill Clinton was not the only one that voted obama did to ,but Hillary has been trying to moderate it since 2006,and it was and is good for some states but not good for some , if she gets a chance she will , she is good with her promises.she very well could not go against the president at that time.
all of these events happening in the same time period all contributed to our economy faltering. Like you said, you can’t pinpoint and blame it on just one thing. It is several events…9/11, the Iraq war, free trade and on down the line. I do honestly think that the free trade agreement was ment to help us instead of hurt us, so that we could trade freely with other nations and sale our products overseas. BUT as it turns out other countries don’t want to buy American goods, we want to buy their cheaper goods and services, and our big corporations would rather outsource our jobs overseas. It was a bad move, I agree.
no.
it was 9/11… uncertainty in the market.. then war and defict spending… then gas price increases and then sub prime adjustable rate mortgages.
but its was all done under w’s watch… not bill’s.
deficit spending choked the us economy.
Free trade sucks . Your job may be next to go
