They buy the bead work in India, and the lace is done in the Philippines. The sewing is done in mainland China, where the labour is cheapest. Except the sleeves. The gowns and sleeves are shipped to Germany, where Turkish workers buzz them through sewing machines and sew on a label that says "Made in Germany". American buyers pay a premium price for the gown because of the "German quality". Not like that Chinese garbage. We need to compete in a global world. We need to figure out what we do best, better than anybody, and do it. I'm Canadian. We have the same problem. Or, should I say the same challenge?
