Hi I want to write a you for a favor. I have a few you cards which have the pattern of flowers in a and fashion. Is this OK? In China we generally avoid -and-white patterns since they seem to be unlucky. Thanks veyr much!

  1. If it is to a person in your culture, I’d shy away from it…..but if it’s just an American send it…I rarely receive thank you cards and am grateful for any that are sent to me…seems to be a sort of lost courtesy…may God bless you for remembering the kindness of another and rewarding them for it.

  2. Wow! Maybe that’s been my problem >>…… I love black & white together. Use what you have as long as it isn’t going to someone who would be offended because they are aware or are a part of that culture.

  3. I think you’ll find that people will be only to glad to recieve a thank you card, they won’t worry about the colors. If you are worried then plain paper would be vey acceptable, it’s the thought that counts.

  4. As far as I know, neither the US nor Western Europe has such a cultural problem with black & white cards or patterns, so if you’re sending a card to someone here it should be fine! I don’t know about all other cultures, didn’t know it was considered unlucky in China either. Where are you sending the card to?
Another option would be to color it yourself; that’d also add a personal touch.

  5. I am Asian too but not Chinese, but I know what you mean about the black and white being unlucky. If everyone getting these cards are not of your culture or at least not hardcore into the “traditions” – then it should be just fine!! It’s nice to hear you are handing out thank you cards period . . . sadly, not many people are thoughtful that way anymore.

  6. Please don’t tell me there’s racism in thank-you cards now!!
