An attic which is deprived of ventilation, can cause major flaws in the regular scheme of things. Ground a ladder firmly and climb up to the roof. The spread of the roof which looks appropriate for the installation of the vent is detected first. Slip the business-end of the tool under the edges of the concerned shingle and push down the other end of the tool to uproot the nails. All the adjoining shingles are detached partially in such a way that no damage is done to them.

Once a ridge cap is rendered to the determined area, mark down the zone around the cap with a bright-colored piece of chalk. Leave out about 7-8 inches on either side of the ridge cap. This is because the size of the vent and it’s associated base may be a bit larger than the anticipated size.

Now, take a circular saw to the roof and cut the shingles from the predefined markings. Before the commencement of the cutting task, set the blade of the saw so that it doesn’t damage the underlying roof rafters. Clean off the surface of the roof and pry up the altered shingles from the setup.

Visit a local hardware store to buy a new vent. There are different types of vents available in the market. Out of them, the baffled vents would serve the required purpose quite well as they prevent the external air from coming into the attic. Although, the internal hot air escapes out well from the vent. Once the baffled vent is set in place, envelop the area with the shingles and cement the nailed setup.
