I’m going to give u a basic overview on why China is one of the oldest continuous civilizations.
There are many dynasties in Chinaese history. Every single one of them continued with the traditions of the previous dynasties because they were impressed, If you were a general who took over the United States for example, would you destroy every single building and outlaw every single freedom if you were impressed with these things? You wouldnt. You would adopt it. It was the same with the Chinese.
China is a civilization that dates back over 6000 years. Unlike the Babylonians, the Egyptians, the Greeks or the Romans, and other civilizations that fell and disappeared, China’s written language, culture and people still remain today.
The four greatest inventions in the world, came out of China. The compass, paper, gunpowder and the printing press.
China was inhabited by the human ancestor, Homo erectus, around 550,000 years ago. From archeological sites outside of Beijing scientists found that this hominid could start and control fire as well as cooked with it. It is one of the earliest findings of cooked food ever found.
Modern human remains, people like us, were found in China that date back to 67,000 years ago. The oldest modern human remains found in Europe date back to 30,000 years ago. This means China was inhabited by modern humans far longer than Europe.
The first dynasty in China, the Xia, until recently was thought to be mythical, existed in 2200 BCE. Archaeologists have found bronze tools, artwork and their written language (which has not changed for 6000 years) from that period.
The Qin dynasty, which used to be called the Chin dynasty by European archaeologists and that is where we get the name China, unified the many states of China into one nation in 220 BCE. It stretched west into the Tibetan mountains and east to the Pacific Ocean. South into what is today modern Vietnam and north to the border of the Mongolian inhabited desert.
Civilizations have come and gone, but China still remains.
Actually, they aren’t. Their leadership changed from Actual Chinese, to Mandarin, to Mongolian and several others for thousands of years. Then in the early 1900s it changed again. The government wasn’t the same, the culture wasn’t the same and in 1949 it intolerably and horribly changed again.
