  1. China did not choose communism. Communists won the civil war.

  2. not really i beleive its better than surfdom but not as good as democracy but democracy has its pitfalls 2here small minority groups with loud voices get more attention than they deserve

  3. No matter what economic system you will always have a privileged ruling class of elite that will have access to more resources then the majority. In China and other socialist nations it is the “Federal Government”. In industrialized nations it is the corporations.
After that the form of economic system depends on the people.
It goes to a person or groups basic ideologies.
Rich people believe they should be able to pay people to work and make rich people rich.
Poor people believe they should be able to receive money from rich people, either in the form of a job or socialism, so they can stay poor.
Essentially the basic ideologies are very different.
One believes that they should give other people money so they can make money.
One believes that they should receive money.
If you have more people who want to pay others to make money for them you will have a capitalistic government.
If you have more people who want to receive money you will have a communistic/socialist government.

  4. all idealogies on paper are wonderful, in practice they fall short
    some more that others.
totalitarian gov’ts are blunders as are freedom of speech

  5. China only became an economic world power after allowing limited capitalism in the 80′s.
    What do you think?

  6. i think the world made a blunder in choosing bejing china for the next olympics. the air pollution is going to kill those games!

  7. Yes a big blunder, why on God’s green earth would anyone, or country, want to be under communism??, except of course for hitlery or obama, two very sad people, and not for the USA, not at all, both evil doer’s!!!!!!!

  8. for the people no. for the “bankers” which are actually capitalist rulers exploiting the system as much as they can, yes.
If you truly believe China is a communist system, you don’t really have a clue what goes on over there.

  9. Well, obviously–communism doesnt work. as China found out–thats why they’ve abandoned the system (though not the rhetoric, which still serves as an excuse for denying human rights and democracy).
But the choice is understandable. The Chinese people had undergone–by the end of WW2–over thirty years o f chaos. The rebublic established after the end of the Empire (1911) was overthrown by the so-called “Nationalists” who never were able to actually govern the country and bring order. Then, in the early thirties, japan invaded and ruled China until 1945. After the war, the Nationalists attempted to lseize power. They had little support–mostly due tto their corruption and brutality.Unfortunately for China, the only other group with any real power were the Chinese Communists–andapparently most Chinese figured anything ws better thanthe Nationalists. Based on the evidence they had, they were probably right–bad as the Communists were, the Nationalists would most likely have been even worse.

  10. Ya think?

  11. no. i believe the people of China did not “choose” communism. the circumstances in place during the rise of communism, were what led to the triumph of the party. once in place it has been able to secure it’s position by using both skill and ruthless barbarity. today it is evolving into a model that has no precedence. a totalitarian state in which the people are allowed all the fruits of capitalism as long as they don’t question, too forcefully, who’s in charge.

  12. I think you have to look at China as a whole in terms of their socio-economic development before making a blanket statement. And it’s a topic that deservers more than a quick answer on Yahoo!

  13. As has been pointed out, please do some RESEARCH on this before blundering into the falacious assumption that the Chinese people CHOSE communism. Have you never heard of Mao Tse-tung? Oh, and lest you get complacent about Mao, it is estimated that he was RESPONSIBLE for over 40 MILLION DEATHS during his reign over China… when they “supposedly” CHOSE (?) communism?
The rest of your “question” is, therefore, invalid, since China did NOT CHOOSE communism…. and even today, it is NOT the choice, it is STILL being IMPOSED upon them.
    Have a right-wing day.

  14. China did not choose communism. Mao chose communism, then overran the country with it, driving Chaing kai-shek to sulk offshore on Formosa.

  15. they didnt choose it…Mao chose it for them..the ones that could escaped to Formosa

  16. The communists won the civil war, but who supported it? the Chinese, duh.
Historians don’t see what could have been, they can only evaluate what is. You can only evaluate how far china has come under Communist rule, because you wouldnt know for sure if the KMT would be able to do a better job.
There is no country in the world like China. given its size, population and potential, the only comparison COULD be Russia or the USA. But chinese history shows that things work out better generally when under a supreme leader, as seen in the Qin dynasty under the first emperor, versus the puppet government in the last dynasty (can’t remember its name).
But looking at the growth rates and china’s entry into the global market, i don’t think communism was too bad for the country.

  17. no go and see it for your own .they put their country fist and second themselves

  18. It was imposed on them against their will
Only a complete fool would “choose” commuism
