Why Is Everything Sold In The Stores Made In China?

I am sick of picking up a coffee pot, a dish, a pair of shoes I like, etc. and sure enough, it was in . Doesn’t the US import anything other than Chinese goods anymore? What about American goods?
I saw on TV that hundreds of homeowners who purchased new houses in FL had to abandon them because the builders used gypsum board made in China that was POISONING them & their families. When is this going to stop?

  1. Everything we buy is made in China because manufacturing in the U.S. is dead in the water. Even our auto companies, that giant of industry, are struggling to stay alive, simply because our companies have fled to cheap labor and Americans are jobless and can only afford cheap junk, and wouldn’t be able to buy American even if there were anything American to buy.
Our big Corporations have had their eyes on profit, and it grieves them deeply to pay decent salaries and adequate benefits, so they have thumbed their nose at the people who made them the giants they are and have fled to China and India to take advantage of people who work for a pittance, march to the governmental drummer, and can’t afford necessities, let alone luxuries.
It’s a downward spiraling carousel and the only thing that might stop it is a President with intelligence enough to see what is happening. Then, the goods from China would be limited, health measures would be strictly enforced, and jobs for Americans a priority, with an opportunity to Buy American again.
We have this President in Obama and he will do his best to accomplish these goals if he is not boggled down by partisan bickering and political tricks, as it looks as though will happen. The bickering and negative attitudes in Congress have reached a point where our government is useless to us.
It is time for voters to tell these charlatans that the American public is serious and that every one of them will be out in the cold on the next Election Day, if the bickering doesn’t stop and the President be allowed to try his hand at getting America back on track!

  2. Truth be told, it’s to make Americans jobless so that we will become like other countries and that many will be forced into slave labor jobs (just like in China).
Don’t be surprised. It is by design that this has been done. It’s predicted in the book of Revelations about a days wage for a loaf of bread.
If you want to get right down to it, Americans themselves are to blame for this. We kept demanding everything to be cheaper and then we got it. Now we are really going to get it.
Keep this in mind. The law firm Hillary Clinton was in (Rose Law Firm) helped to broker all of Wal-Mart’s deals so they could thrive.
Where does Wal-Mart get all of their goods? China!!!!
Also, keep this in mind. Rubbermaid used to be made here in the U.S. Wal-Mart wanted them to lower their prices (Rubbermaid said no because the price of materials to them had gone up) so Rubbermaid no longer is in business here in the U.S.
Now get this. Guess who bought the equipment from the Rubbermaid Corp. That’s right. A company in China and now you have inexpensive products in Wal-Mart from Rubbermaid.

  3. Unfortunately its built in to the capitalist system you guys love so much. Its always going to be cheaper to outsource work and even set up factories in China because you only have to pay the workers a bowl of rice a day!!! Get used to it, thats the freedom Bush was defending over the last 8 years.
Of course he was such a numbnuts he never realised that US corporations would throw a few million workers on to the scrapheap and move their factories and coal plants to China but hey who really gives a stuff huh? Just face the facts people, the world is controlled by the super rich bankers and elite families, these ugly excuses for human beings see only one thing. Profits!!!!, and they dont give a stuff how many people die as a result of their profiteering, they dont give a stuff about US families unable to pay off their mortgage because their boss moved the plant to Asia then sacked 20,000 workers this week, the rich creeps despise the little people like me and you, we are nothing more than cattle to them. But the one humungus question I have for these super rich fux is
“Can you take all that gold with you???” can you?….ya morons!!!

  4. Basic economics: low cost labor. Consumers want low prices and there are over 1000 million very poor Chinese willing to work very hard for low wages to make things we buy
The Chinese government is doing everything it can to encourage those factories.
Would you rather have a war so China can try to take what it needs. That is what happend before WW II when Japan tried to expand.

  5. Forget War Buy More

It is possible not to, but it takes planning and money. I buy from local stores with ethical commitments, but I also live in a very liberal and progressive town (we even called most enlightened by the NYTimes). If I didn’t it would be much harder.

  6. Because its cheaper to manufacture and ship goods in China.
There aren’t minimum wage regulations in China like there are here in the US. US labor simply cant compete with people in China making as little as 25 cents an hour.
This is going to stop once Chinese workers revolt and demand to be paid a decent (minimum wage)

  7. because they are cheaper!
