There are several trains running between Ningbo and Shanghai daily. Travel time varies but the average is about 4 hours. Cost is around 70RMB ($10 US).

be careful there….two airports here.
Hongqiao is mostly domestic flights. (Airport code SHA)
Pudong is mostly Internatiional flights and some flights to south China. (Airport code PVG.)
You can actually fly into Hongqiao from Ningbo. I have done that before. It is 4-5 hours overland, OR a 40 minute flight. I choose the flight most of the time.
They just opened a new bridge that saves some time. So that 4-5 hours might be 3-4 now.
