Has Anyone Heard Of Fashion-total In China?

I found this company fashion-total on TradeKey.com. I have been communicating with Jessica (Sales Manager) via email. I want to order clothing items from them but I have not placed an order yet. I am a little leary because I did a google search on TradeKey.com AND scam and there are so many blogs on companies from being fradulent and taking peoples money and getting nothing in return.
I have read some blogs that say some of the companies listed are legit. I want to find out about this one in particular.
Can give me some insight?

  1. Contact via email the Trade & Commerce bureau of China for legal proof of the company being legit.

  2. Check and double check. As with any international trade, caution is the keyword, especially when establishing business for the first time.
Depending on the size of your business / potential future purchases / or if it’s a one of purchase, you may want to see the physical store/ factory in China, or if this is not cost effective, establish some sort of bank Letter of Credit, which is only released to the seller after proof of delivery of merchandise. This will protect both seller and buyer. Or get online insurance protection if all transactions are to be done online.
Or place a small order first, this is to test legitimacy of the company, as well as quality of the merchandise, turn over time, etc.

  3. Two things about their website would worry me.
    1. They give no postal address, so you have no idea where they are, and they don’t name the factories with whom they ‘co-operate’ or give a location for them.
    2. Selling i-pods? Very expensive in China, so how can they export them so cheaply if they aren’t dodgy?
If you want to do sourcing in China, get a good local sourcing agent – it will cost you about 10% more, but save an awful lot of heartache in the long run.

  4. i got cheated twice and never did order from china again.
biggest joke i ever saw, the address of the company stated a beijing address in the province of shanghai.

A Google search shows that they seem to have a fairly large web presence and are serious about promoting their company. In my opinion they seem legit. Just because they are Chinese does not automatically make them a scam. The problem is there is no accountability in Chinese commerce or government, so even if an established company in China decided on a whim to take your money, you have very little legal recourse. That said, I noticed one red flag about this company: they are using unlicensed images of celebrities to promote their merchandise (Britney Spears is on their homepage, and I highly doubt Britney has endorsed Fashion-Total). This is not unusual in China, where trademark infringement is common, however you should be weary that the clothes this company is selling might not be authentic. Their own disclaimer lends proof to this theory:
“Fashion-Total International Trading Co. is not responsible for any packages held by customs in your country.”
Most companies selling authentic merchandise will reimburse you for goods confiscated by international customs. But as pirated/fake goods out of China is prolific, seems that Fashion-Total is covering their arses.
